LP 11 Training Computer Users Lab
Planning:
-
Analyze job skills required.
-
Analyze the trainees.
I’m going to do both steps one and two because I feel that we should have covered this chapter before we attempted doing the video for LP 5. Knowing what to prepare for and how, is key to any successful task. I will be using myself as an example of a trainee.
When I worked on my home computer, I should have done more research on how to do the cleanup instead of using my memory. But then I would not have this wonderful lesson to teach others.
-
Assess the needs of the trainee.
Well, there’s no doubt I need more training, but with patience, I managed to get through the process and now “Old Smokey” is “New Smokey”. The start time is a little slow, but nowhere near the five minute mark.
-
Set training objectives.
My objectives were to get the computer running smoothly and not take excess time starting up. If this machine was in a real work environment, the boss would probably throw it on the junk pile. Not that I haven’t wanted to do the same.
Preparation:
5. Select and organize training content.
The subject of “How to Cleanup a Hard drive” was derived from the video which was done for LP5.
6. Select training methods, techniques, and aids.
An entire lesson plan was written out. Note cards will be made from the lesson.
7. Prepare training module.
A video will be made after much practice and rehearsal has been done.
8. Decide how to evaluate training.
Evaluation will be done through questions asked during the presentation and a survey will be taken afterwards.
Presentation:
9. Present training module.
Perhaps this will be presented to fellow class mates.
10. Evaluate the training.
An evaluation survey form will be handed out to each trainee for completion.
Progress:
11. Review and revise training materials and methods, as necessary.
I would say that doing this assignment would fully cover the revise and revamp the materials part. The first video was way too long, and totally unrehearsed. Perhaps it should have been carried away in a hearse, but then we are here to learn.
