Wireless Bridge Technologies
1. Define Wireless Bridge:
A wireless bridge provides a relatively straight forward point-to-point or point-to-multipoint wireless Ethernet connection. A Wireless Distribution System (WDS) is a system which involves two or more wireless bridges built using 802.11 access points. The bridging is done by manually configuring the end-points using static addresses.

2. How is this technology used; best scenario for its use:
The first bridge device is connected to the home network via Ethernet. Using a second bridge device, configure both devices with the same static IP addresses. When the system is activated, the two bridge devices should talk to each other.
In an article I found, the most common way to communicate between two buildings is by using Wireless Distribution System with two Access Points configured as bridges (if possible) and two high-gain directional antennas. I will be including these articles later in this blog.
3. Research a wireless bridge and summarize the capabilities:
I found the Linksys Wireless-G Access point which can be configured as an Access Point, Access Point Client, Wireless Repeater, and a Wireless Bridge. When the device is configured as a wireless bridge, Wireless Clients cannot access the system. This device is priced at $79.99 on Amazon.

4. This is my scenario in which this technology is supposed to work.
I for some strange reason have decided to move my office from the comfort of my house to the comfort of my cold garage. I purchase two Linksys Wireless-G Access points. With an Ethernet cable that I built in class, I connect the first Access Point configured as a bridge.
Then, I take my handy dandy self with the second access point out to the garage, connect the Access Point to an electronic outlet (hoping it doesn’t blow a fuse). I then run another Ethernet cable from the Access Point to a computer which at this time of year has been dressed in very warm clothes. This should in all theory produce a completed network. Believe me if it doesn’t, I’m going to stay in the house.
